cakes I made recently

Hello, I hope everyone doing good. Welcome back to my blog. I thought I would share with you some of the cakes I have been making.
In the past month I have made quite a few cakes. 3 to be exact, One for mothers day, one for fathers day, and another cake for my friends anniversary.

The first cake was made for mothers day.  The flavour of cake that I made is a favourite in our house. we make it a lot.  I know my mom likes it so of course I had to make the so easy chocolate cake. The filling between the cakes was a salted caramel icing. This filling was something I had never tried before, but it turned out great. Next was to ice the cake. First I did the crumb coat or as my mom says "the scratch coat" which I had never done before. After that's done it was time to decorate.
I was trying to come up with ideas on what to do on the cake, and then I remembered I say this video where she did a water colour effect on the cake. It was pretty I had to do it, but the next question was what colours to do. I looked at my colours and see what paired good with what. I decided on pink and yellow. How got that effect was I put a couple dots of each colour around the cake, and then I smoothed it over with my cake scrapper. This turned out pretty good.  On the top I used my star tip to pipe flowers on the top. And the cake was finished and eaten.
The next cake that I made was for Fathers day.

The flavour of this cake is the same so easy chocolate cake I used for my moms cake with the same caramel filling with chunks of toblerone.  I found this cake by scrolling on Instagram seeing this post from Wilton. https://www.wilton.com/happy-fathers-day-cake/WLPROJ-8925.html#start=7 When I saw this cake I knew that I had to make it for my dad, because it had all the things he loves on it.
This cake I thought would be a little tricky to do. I thought that it would be hard to pipe the shapes onto the cake, I was trying to think of different ideas. I had the idea of a buttercream transfer. This is when you pipe your buttercream onto parchment paper and freeze it, after I crumb coated the cake I took out the buttercream. the buttercream was supposed to be frozen so you could take them off and place them on the cake. sadly this did not work out so I put them on like a temporary tattoo, It surprisingly work out.

for my friends anniversary cake they wanted flowers. I wasn't quit sure how I wanted to do this, but I had a lot of ideas running through my head.  I went to the Wilton website to get some inspiration.

I was shopping one day and I came across these flower tips, I thought I could use this for the cake.
On this cake I used the same technique on the side of the cake, as I did on the mothers day cake. It is called the water colour technique. The top of the cake I decided I wanted to put a K+B on the top, First I outlined the words with blue icing, and then I put flowers all around it.

I finished the cake of by putting flowers around the bottom.

I hope these cakes will inspire something in you. I had fun creating all of these, and eating them!
I can't wait to create more treats.  I hope you enjoyed it.

Europe trip - Kampan & Amsterdam 2017

Hello welcome back to my Europe adventure.
Next after Paris we packed up and got on a trains that took us to Kampan.

We where staying and my aunt and uncles house in Kampan, so when we got settled, my mom and I went to go find the grocery store and buy stuff for meals and snacks. when at the grocery store I found peanut butter Oreos. We don't have peanut butter Oreos in Canada, so of course I had to get them.  It all started by watching the parent trap. they have Oreos with peanut butter, I thought I like Oreos and peanut butter. I tried it and it was good. me and my friend both like it so when I saw these I needed to send her a picture of them.

In Kampan everybody rides bikes. we decided to go rent some bikes. The bikes are a little different to the bike I ride, so it was a little difficult. I tried but it wasn't working for me so i went back to the apartment to read my book while they went for a bike ride.

We did quite a bit of walking around and exploring. the first time we walked around we noticed a poster for an organ concert. My parents went to this concert after supper.  Since I never went on a bike ride I went on a walk with my mom and we found a park.

After Kampan we went headed to Amsterdam. we only spent a short time in Amsterdam. we didn't do a whole lot. one of the things that we did was go to the Banksy and Dali museum.

For those of you who are in aware who Banksy is, I thought I would give you some history about him. Banksy is a anonymous graffiti artists. My favourite piece that I saw is the balloon girl. When we finished we went to the gift shop, there was a sweater with the Balloon girl picture on it and a shirt with the same picture on it. I was thinking about getting the sweater, but I didn't and kind of regret it. my sister bought the shirt with the picture on it.
We later that day got a text saying that mine and my sisters flight was cancelled. Long story short we had to stay an extra night, and get on another flight the next day. The next morning I finished packing up my things and went downstairs to have breakfast, after breakfast we got a ride to the airport. We got on the plane. instead of going from Amsterdam to Toronto, and Toronto to Winnipeg we had to go for Amsterdam, then Minneapolis and from there we went home. In Minneapolis we had a little bit of a situation. we had to wait awhile at the gate. We finally got on the plane, we were sitting there and then we were told we had to get off the plane and wait for another one. we then had to move gates. since we had to wait they gave us free pizza. We finally made it home!
I had such a great trip, I am so glad that I had the opportunity to go on this trip.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my adventures. I would love to know what you thought, or if you have been to any off these places.

Thank you so much for reading!

Europe trip - paris 2017

Hello everyone. Today I want to share with you my Europe trip adventure. so in may I wrote a post called summer travelling. in this post I explained how we came up with this trip, and where we were going to go in Europe. if you haven't seen it you should go read it. this series of posts will be based on the big things we saw, and less of the whole day by day. if that makes sense. These will be split into parts. he first part is Paris, second Kampan, and Amsterdam.
 The first stop was Paris.

These are a few pictures of our apartment. this apartment was on a private street. we needed to open a gate with a code to get on our street. our apartment was on the fifth floor, I think. there were a lot of stairs, there was an elevator, but it could only hold or three people. we all walked up with our suitcases. this was a little difficult, because my suitcase was heavy and my knees were starting to hurt. I finally made it to the apartment put my stuff down, and took a look of the place. after that I hit the couch and had a nap.
I didn't mind so much walking down the stairs, rather than going up, especially after a long day of walking. I preferred taking the elevator up. on the last day I did not want to go another round of going on those stairs with my suitcase. what we did was I went in the elevator with some of the suitcases. it was squishy, but it worked.
The first thing we went to go see was the Eiffel tower.

Our apartment was semi close to the Eiffel tower, so we walked there. walking there took awhile, but it was nice when we got there. Paris is really busy, there are people everywhere. I took some pictures of the tower. I tried my best to get some nice pictures. All my pictures include lots of people, there are were people everywhere. I sat on the grass with my family after. I watched other people take photos in front of it. we sat on the grass for awhile. we didn't spend a whole lot of time at the tower, but unless you want to climb the Eiffel tower.
The next place we went to was the Louvre.

The louvre, if you don't know is a famous museum. The most famous painting that I know is The Mona Lisa. The room where the Mona Lisa was in was crazy. you had to fight your way to get a picture, there was so many people there it was impossible to get  nice picture.
We spent a lot of time in the louvre, and we had lunch in the cafe. we made our way back through the museum to go out.
The next place that we went to was Claude Monet's house.

Claude Monet is a very famous painter. he does a lot impression paintings of his garden, and water lilies. first we walked through his garden. this garden is beautiful, I have never seen a garden this beautiful. After we walked through the gardens, we went into the house. his house was colourful and   filled with paintings.

The last two things we did in Paris was go to the Notre Dame cathedral and shopping.

My sisters friend had been to Paris and told my sister about some spots we should visit. on of the places was a bakery were macrons were invented. we went into Laurdee, and I bought some macrons.

The flavours of macrons were coffee, Raspberry, Caramel, Mint, Chocolate, and Lavender. I really liked these except I wasn't a fan of the lavender one. I like the smell of lavender so I thought I might like the taste, but I didn't like it.

This brings us to the end of my Paris trip. I hoped you enjoyed reading about my adventures in Paris and continue to read about Kampan and Amsterdam.
Thank you so much for reading!
I hoped you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed doing it.
